Physical therapy services
While each of the 32 Desert States Physical Therapy Network locations has a unique set of treatment specialties, many of our clinics offer the following physical therapy services:
Outpatient orthopaedic rehabilitation
Orthopaedic physical therapy is the provision of care for those individuals of all ages with disorders or dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic physical therapists are skilled in the diagnosis, management, and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders. They are experts in the assessment of movement and can help individuals move better, often with less pain, through skilled manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and patient education.
Sports physical therapy
Sports physical therapy is a specialized practice that focuses on prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement of the physically active individual. This includes pre-participation screenings, equipment recommendations, prescribed fitness programs, and much more. Sports physical therapists incorporate the most current research into their practice to help the active individual fully participate in sports and recreation.
Pre and post surgical physical therapy
Participating in PT before a surgery, often referred to as “pre-op conditioning”, can help you recover quicker and more comfortably after your operation. Your therapist will educate you about exercises, modification, precautions, and home adaptations that will help you gain confidence as you transition to life after surgery.
Physical therapy after surgery will help you to continue your pre-op physical therapy while helping to reduce swelling, relieve pain, and regain range of motion. You’ll participate in body awareness and balance training exercises and start to focus on strengthening as you heal. Additionally, your PT will provide any additional rehabilitation that is tailored to your job or sport activities.
Care for acute & chronic conditions
Physical therapy for acute health problems, which are sudden and severe in onset, occurs after an individual has sustained an unexpected injury. Examples of conditions requiring acute care are total joint replacements, fractures, stroke, spinal cord injuries, wounds, burns, and cardiovascular problems.
